Missionary Letters

day 34

Aw…I love Wednesdays. I dedicate a couple of hours each Wednesday evening to writing letters to some of my most favorite friends. These sweet friends of mine are serving LDS missions around the world and I love to hear and read their stories of the adventures that they are on. I love reading their testimonies and watching them grow. I love it and it truly brings so much happiness into my heart!!

Peanut Butter Popcorn…

I spent the afternoon at the dentist—not a fun place to be. I do like my dentist, periodontist, and orthodontist but I am not a fan of visiting them and I feel like I have been spending a lot of time with them this year. I hope that when I look back on this experience, I will have good thoughts but today…it wasn’t delightful. As I was sitting in the dentist chair, I had this incredible desire to make a treat for my young women tonight. Don’t you have that desire when you are sitting in the dentist chair—making sugary treats? Sometimes I really wonder what goes on in my brain. HA

I came up the conclusion to make Reese’s Peanut Butter Popcorn. Vieve came over to help me put this delicious treat together. Of course, while we were making it, I had to whine about the dentist. She has had her fun with the dentist (NOT) so I knew that she would help me feel better about everything. Ok…so, we whined together. HA

My sweet young women loved the popcorn so I decided to share the recipe with you.

day 33

Reese’s Peanut Butter cup Popcorn

1 cup popcorn kernels, popped

1 lb. Almond Bark

1 bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter cup, chopped into small pieces

3/4 cup chocolate chips

· Pop popcorn and place popcorn in a very large mixing bowl.

· Melt the almond bark according to the package.

· Once the almond bark is melted.

· Pour over the popcorn and mix well.

· Add chopped peanut butter cups and fold through popcorn.

· Pour the popcorn out onto a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper.

· Melt the chocolate chips and drizzle over the popcorn.  Leave it until the almond bark and chocolate has hardened.

· When chocolate is hardened, use your hands to break up popcorn into chunks.  Toss in a bowl and eat!!  So delicious!!!

Sweetie, you are a potato!

Ok…rarely do I watch commercials when I sit down to watch TV. Maybe I just do not have the patience to sit there and watch the commercials or maybe I find them non-rewarding. Hmm…I haven’t really thought of it. Tonight, I was watching the much anticipated TV premier of 24 and not wanting to miss a moment of it, I watched the commercials…every single one of them. Some commercials were appalling and some were so strange that I did not even understand what they were trying to sell or deliver BUT…there was this one. It had me laughing so hard. I am not sure if it is because of the lack of sleep or if it is just funny.

Such powerful young women…

day 32

As I was pondering the things that I should share with my sweet young women today, my thoughts turned to my very first calling with the young women as a Mia Maid leader. Those first amazing young women touched my life in ways that I cannot even describe from decorated heart doors filled with happy notes to inspiring lessons that changed our lives. They are powerful young women who I am so blessed to know and to love. As I have watched them mature into adulthood, I am so overwhelming grateful for them and definitely proud of them. Thank you for being such incredible examples to me...then and definitely now. Sweet girls, I love each one of you and feel so blessed to have learned and served with you many years ago. You truly have a special place in my heart!!

No place I would rather be…

day 30

Bright and early this morning, we attended the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.  I have never been to that temple and it was simply beautiful.  I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be with these special daughters of God today.  It truly brings a smile to my face.  They truly fill my heart with happiness and goodness.

Day 2 of BYU Women’s Conference

byuwc-2014-BYU-Womens-Conference

Aw…I loved today.  I loved spending time with Vieve.  I loved attending the classes that we did.  I loved every bit of today and I learned so much.    It definitely was a great day. One of the classes that we attended was given by John Bytheway.  It was awesome and powerful!! He shared 5 scriptures that will get us through anything.   They are:

  • 1 Nephi 11:17
  • Moses 7:26-33
  • Alma 14:9-13
  • Alma 7:11-12
  • D&C 101:32-36

His talk was amazing!!

BYU Women’s Conference day 1

1399067085873

Today was a great day!!  I had the opportunity to attend BYU Women’s Conference with Vieve.  I have always wanted to attend this conference and I am so grateful that Vieve agreed to share this adventure with me.  She is a lot of fun and we have a great time together.  For the most part, we attended some wonderful classes and was able to feel of the Spirit as it touched our hearts.  There was one thing that Sister Sherri Dew said that has been in my thoughts.  She said that each day, we should reflect on the following question, “What is one thing that I will do TODAY to become closer to the Savior?”  I have decided that is what my question is going to be each morning—my new goal to become closer to the Savior each day.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to be able to attend this amazing conference and I am grateful to spend two days with one of my good friends.  So excited to see what tomorrow brings…
