What do you see when you look out a window?

When was the last time that you sat and looked out a window?  I mean, really look out a window.  What did you see?  Was there anything that touched your heart and soul?  Tonight, I was visiting my mom in her hospital room (her home away from home) when I noticed this beautiful view.  It is incredible.  It is full of life, happiness and most of all peace.  I watched an older gentleman take his little dog for a walk bending down every once in a while to scratch its head.  I watched as hospital workers came to gently care for their patients and leave to be with their family and friends.  I witnessed families in their backyards playing together.  I noticed green luscious grass and beautiful trees.  I noticed the white fluffy clouds mixed with a few dark ones.  I noticed friends and families bringing flowers and gifts to their loved ones.  There was so much to see while looking outside this window.

Sometimes we have to take a break from our rushing lives to realize that there is so much beauty around us.  Beauty that sometimes goes unnoticed because we have packed our lives with so much STUFF.  Tonight, I am grateful for the opportunity to sit with my mom and just enjoy looking out the window from her home away from home.  It will be quite a while before she can look out the windows of her own home but for right now, we will marvel at the beauty that we see.

I would love to know what you see when you look your window?

Can you believe this? Snow already? I am not sure if I am excited about this. I just sat and starred out my window…starring at the snow.

It card creating time!!

I love to create.  I love the challenge of finding new things to teach my little card friends.  I just love it.  I am grateful for friends and family who love that I share my passion for card making!!  I am truly blessed.  Look at these treasures!!  I think these are some of my favorite cards.  The stamps are so much fun and I cannot get enough of them.

Missing 7 Vials of Blood

20130927_093410

10 things I learned today:

1. I have small veins.

2. A phlebotomist needs to use a pediatric needle when taking blood from me.

3. When a phlebotomist says she needs to fish around to find a vein…it isn’t the greatest feeling to have to endure.

4. I am not a good bleeder.

5. Drinking 96 ounces the day before a blood test doesn’t help…apparently, I should have drunk double which would have resulted in 192 ounces of water (and 75 trips to the bathroom).

6. It is extremely important to eat immediately after 7 vials of blood have been removed from your body.

7. Headaches and lightheadedness result in lack of food, water and blood and may last the entire day.

8. People seem to have a lot more respect for you when you have a matching bandage on both your elbow and your hand.

9. Bruises come as a result of being poked four different times—meaning 4 amazing bruises.

10. I couldn’t figure out why I am so drained today…a-ha! It was the missing 7 vials of blood!!

Goodnight!!

loving some Waffle Luv

Lately for some reason, we have been having these food trucks parked in our parking lot at work. We have had Pizza Fiore, Marley’s, Sweeto Burrito and today we had Waffle Luv. Vieve and I have tried something from each one of them and haven’t been too disappointed. The pizza from Pizza Fiore is baked over a wood fire. Vieve and I shared a pizza and I think that we both could have eaten our own. It was too yummy. Marley’s has delicious sliders and shoestring French fries. Oh, their fry sauce is simply divine. Um…Sweeto Burrito wasn’t my favorite but if I forget my lunch and they are here, I might take advantage of the convenience of food from the parking lot.

Today we tried an amazing waffle from Waffle Luv. Let me tell you…DELICIOUSNESS!!! I had the Strawberry Nutella waffle. It was heavenly.

Aw…this could get addicting.

The perfect patient…

My sweet little niece has been experiencing horrific migraines the past few days.   She has them occasionally but not as often as she has had them these past few days I cannot even imagine what it is like for her to have them so often.  I can barely handle the ones that I have every once in awhile.  So, after visiting  with her pediatrician, it was decided that Brylie needed to go to Primary Children’s Hospital to have them check her shunt to make sure that it was still working.

BrylieShe had to endure some not-so-fun tests and we had to endure the heartache of watching her go through them. brylie1 I love this little girl and it breaks my heart to see her in so much pain. She is so strong it simply amazes me.

This little picture makes me laugh…she was asking the Neurosurgeon when she could go home.  It was awesome.  She was tired of being there and she just wanted to go home.

Aw…I love you little Brylie!

Live every day!!

IMG_66695565726706

I came across this quote today and it really made me think about a lot of things. It reminds me a lot of my little niece. She is always so happy and is trying to make sure that everyone around her is equally happy. As I have watched her, I am amazed at her little grown-up mind that appears in her six-year-old little body. I definitely want to be more like her.  It reminds me that it is so important to seek out the sunshine in each of our lives.  It reminds me that it is so important to always to try to build others up.  It reminds me that it is important to be happy!!!
