It is almost like popcorn.

49105main_popcorn I will admit that I don’t like asking people for help. It really don’t matter what it is…I just can’t ask for it. I don’t like to bother people or put any undo stress on them. If I can’t do it myself…I just won’t do it. I know that this is a huge weakness for me. I am sure that there are people in my life that would love to help and would often say “yes” if I were to ask. In fact, my mom is one of those types of people. She would do anything for anyone. Why am I sharing this with you…I want to share an incredible milestone in my life. I asked for help. Would you like to hear the story…then, read on…

I was sitting in Stake Conference on Sunday afternoon. The speakers were exceptionally great and the Spirit was incredibly strong. I was taking notes on promptings that I was receiving. During one of the rest hymns, a thought popped into my mind. It was so vivid and it was an answer to one of my prayers. We, as a Stake Young Women’s Presidency, challenged our young women and our leaders to read the entire Book of Mormon before YW camp. They have had approximately 10 months to complete this challenge. Along with that challenge, we encouraged them to finish the Virtue Value. Our Stake Presidency took the challenge and on Sunday they wore gold ties to show that they had completed this particular value. They bore testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and power that has come into their lives as the completed both of these challenges. As I sat in the congregation, I felt an overwhelming love for the young women in our stake. I know that if they will read the Book of Mormon and complete the Virtue Value, their lives will be blessed.

I have been thinking of what we could do for our young women who have completed these two challenges.  This is where the thought popped into my mind.  I would say it was like popcorn.  It started with a little kernel.  The kernel represented the thought of doing something for our young women.  As I listened to the spirit (apply some heat) and by the end of the meeting the plan was set into motion.  Hence…the popcorn is now fully popped.  But of course, I needed some help.  Kind of like adding a little bit of butter and salt to the popcorn…or in my case….my favorite… Hot Tamales.

OK…this is where the milestone in my life happened.  I knew who I needed to help me accomplish this project…Bobbi…someone to help me add those delicious flavorings to the popcorn.  The thing is I don’t know her.  I just happened to come upon her blog one day and absolutely loved it.  So…with all of the courage that I could come up with…I wrote her and email asking for her help with this project.  She sent me back a response, …”I will could be thrilled…”  I can’t share with you any of the other details because camp hasn’t arrived and I want it to be a surprise.  But…I will share ALL of the information after July 26th.  You can check back and find out more information.

The popcorn is now furnished with all of its delicious toppings and is waiting to be eaten by those sweet young women in my stake.  I love it when the Spirit “pops” into my heart and directs me in the ways that I need to go.

Mmm I love popcorn. And I'm so excited for your girls to have fun at camp with all the activities you've planned!
